Lonely places
Motherhood often feels like a solitary place. You are surrounded by little people all day, and yet you can feel pretty lonely. I
Being called as a teacher can be one of the most intimidating calls to receive. You are being asked to stand in front of a room of energetic kids with short attention spans, lots of questions, and wiggles. Maybe you worry your lesson will come across as “boring” when all you really want is to help them feel the spirit.
What if you could walk into your Primary class and:
Are you ready to feel excited to teach your kids each week, rather than nervous or overwhelmed?!

In this online video course, I’m sharing:
I come from a long line of educators– college professors, first grade teachers, seminary teachers, music teachers, missionaries. . . I grew up being surrounded by beautiful, empowering examples of teachers.
I attended Brigham Young University and received my Bachelor’s degree in Education, and I loved discovering that “good teaching” can actually be accomplished through specific strategies, mindsets, and theories. I began teaching middle school and had so much fun implementing all the newest education research in real-time.
At the same time, I noticed that as an adult in the Church, I was experiencing a huge range of teachers. Some were confident; others were embarrassed. Some were well-prepared; others were flying by the seat of their pants.
I sat there, seeing these well-meaning volunteers do their best to fulfill their callings, and wondering, “I wish I could just sit down with them and give them some advice, strategies, and outlines that would transform how they taught and make this easier on them!”
As the years passed and I received many opportunities to teach adults at Church in a variety of settings, I finally made the connection:
While much of my formal education training as a teacher helped me become a better gospel teacher, I also learned that teaching at Church has some significant differences than teaching in a classroom.
I have tried it all. I’ve fine-tuned my strategies and then fine-tuned them again. I’ve dealt with every type of comment imaginable. And I can’t wait to share with you what I’ve learned so that you can be more effective and confident in realistic ways.
"There are so many teachers that struggle with confidence and feeling inadequate, or unprepared. I think your training helps us feel that we don’t need to know it all, and helps us know how to take control of the class so it doesn’t get out of hand or go in the wrong direction. [This course is] training every teacher needs to feel confident, prepared, creative, and purposeful."

"It can be really intimidating going into teaching adults. This course is full of relatable situations that can take the mystery out of what could happen during a lesson."

This course is for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who teach children in their callings. This includes teaching-focused callings like Primary Teacher.
This course can also be useful for presidency or Bishopric members who often find themselves teaching children. This includes Primary presidencies, Bishoprics, and stake leaders.
In addition to being a top-rated podcaster, social media presence, speaker, and author, I am a certified teacher who received my bachelor’s degree in teaching from Brigham Young University.
I have taught members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints how to love the scriptures more and to feel confident learning, applying, and teaching from the scriptures for the past 6 years.
During that time, I created my own church-specific teaching method that is backed by both the latest education research and my knowledge of how the Spirit and priesthood power work to support those who willingly serve in church callings.
