Just because we don’t have them now doesn’t mean that a record was not kept. Joseph Smith discovered a “new” book of scripture. (And he didn’t translate a fraction of the records the Lord showed him.) Scriptures from Qumrum have been found. We have been told that there are many more records that will be revealed. Somehow, though, I don’t think they will reveal anything shockingly “new” when they come to light. God has preached the same message to all his children since Adam. Love God; believe in Jesus Christ and His atonement; repent daily from the many ways we have of sinning.
