When my husband and I first started dating, we found a local Mexican restaurant with “Taco Tuesday” every week where we could get deliciously discounted tacos.

We went to this restaurant every single Tuesday while we dated and even into our first year of marriage.

I looked forward to Tuesdays during this time.

Not only would I get to eat yummy food, but my husband and I would get to connect and laugh together even when our schedules were busy.

When we talk about the Sabbath day, we learn there are blessings when we “Call the sabbath a delight.” (Isaiah 58:13)

The Sabbath is a day set aside to strengthen our relationship with our loving Heavenly Father.

He wants us to look forward to this day with excitement and consider it a delight to reconnect with Him.

I wasn’t forced to go to Taco Tuesdays with my husband–

I went because I loved him and wanted to spend time with him.

Similarly, I have found greater happiness when I feel delight and excitement about spending my Sabbath day developing a closer relationship with my Heavenly Father.

When I don’t see the Sabbath as a burden and instead look forward to reconnecting, I am blessed with the confidence that I know who God is and how He feels about me.

  1. I love this! Such a good analogy on how important Sundays are and that we should look forward to this day and delight in it!

I have a small wooden saying in my kitchen that reads: Thank goodness I don’t have to hunt for my own food. I don’t even know where tacos live!
