When was the last time you felt overwhelmed? ⁣

Between kids’ activities, church callings, work, and millions of other things on my to-do list, I honestly feel overwhelmed pretty often. ⁣

My mind usually starts to freak out a bit. ⁣

How am I ever supposed to get anything done?! ⁣

It’s impossible. This is all too much. ⁣

No solution in sight. ⁣

David gave a beautiful, heartfelt cry in Psalm 61 that surprised me because he was also talking about his overwhelmed heart:⁣

“When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (Psalm 61:2) ⁣

I love that. ⁣

When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher that I. ⁣

Who is that rock who is higher than we are? ⁣

My Savior, Jesus Christ. ⁣

Jesus is the person I can turn to when my mind is racing and I don’t think there’s a way to get it all done. ⁣

He makes my priority list more clear. ⁣

He sends promptings to help me eliminate some items on that list. ⁣

He helps me feel pleased with what I have been able to do instead of overwhelmed with what I haven’t. ⁣

He helps me accomplish what is essential. ⁣

Jesus is that sure rock.⁣

He is higher than I am in perspective, in wisdom, in clarity, in light, and in love. ⁣

And so I join my prayer with David’s. ⁣

When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. ⁣

  1. The last 3 months for my wife and I have been absolutely incredibly hard. In June we almost lost her Aunt that we have taken care of for 10 years. She survived but then she ended right back in the hospital after coming home for two days because her kidneys decided to fail. Now we are dealing with moving her into an assisted living facility. Then 6 weeks ago I almost died. I was taking medications to help lose weight but they instead filled my lungs with blood clots that put a strain on my heart and lungs. I have been out of work due to a knee injury for 5 months and now I cant work for maybe another year. Then 3 weeks ago my wife lost her job our only income. During all of this I have been giving everything to my Savior. More then I use too and should’ve have been. Thankfully we haven’t needed because of kind people. He has been my rock in the strongest storms of my life. I just gotta hope there is bright roads ahead. Thank you for the reminder to always put my Savior at the center of everything.

    1. It sounds like you have had a tough go, but what a beautiful testimony you have of the Savior! I hope He continues to carry you! <3

I’ve always loved looking at the names of Christ. He has so many titles, symbolic and literal, that are found throughout scripture. But I’ve never
